Williams Cedar Files Federal Civil Rights Violations Lawsuit

Williams Cedar has filed a federal lawsuit in the Middle District of Pennsylvania on behalf of opponents of the Mariner East 2 Pipeline for civil rights violations and other injuries. The case is Ellen Gerhart, et al. v. Energy Transfer Partners, et al.

The lawsuit alleges that the pipeline’s owners and builders acted in concert with law enforcement agents to silence opponents of the pipeline, and that the pipeline continues its efforts to silence dissent. “With a blitz of pipeline construction in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, it’s hardly surprising to see groups our firm has a long history of representing – victims of civil rights violations and environmental hazards – starting to dovetail,” said Williams Cedar attorney Christopher Markos, who represents the plaintiffs. “As long as people are standing up for their environment and their constitutional rights, we’ll be here for them.”
