Dozens of passengers aboard a charter bus sustained various injuries during a charter bus accident on Monday morning. Around 5:45 am, a charter bus that was heading from Ohio to New York City crashed on Interstate 80 in Danville, Pennsylvania after it went over a 40-foot embankment. The charter bus was carrying over 30 individuals from an Ohio high school including 28 students and three chaperones. Although many of the passengers were evaluated and treated for minor injuries, more than five remain under observation, and one adult chaperone sustained serious injuries during the charter bus accident.
With the end of the school year approaching, students will be taking many field trips and other excursions via bus. Despite the familiar presence of buses on the road, even the most experienced bus drivers may engage in an accident that leaves passengers and other motorists with injuries or even fatalities. Unfortunately, buses do not contain the same level of safety features that smaller vehicles like cars do, which makes passengers more vulnerable in a crash.
